Pakistan is a country of sports and sportsmen of international consequences. Almost every modern and ancient sport is practiced here, nationally and internationally, each with its own social and environmental dynamics.

Pakistan is where the royal game of Polo originated and the annual Polo Competitions, held in Shandur every summer, attract world attention. Pakistan has been World Champions in hockey, cricket and squash and Asia Champion in yachting.

Golf, deep-sea sports fishing, angling and wrestling are the major pursuits. Other sports like wind surfing, air gliding, hot air ballooning, kite flying, white water rafting, scuba diving, snow-skiing, mountain biking etcetera are becoming more and more popular and are attracting international participation as well.
